Classroom Expectations
Here's where you can find the expectations in Mac's Room...in meme form of course.
1. Come to class prepared. That means bring your textbook, your notebook, something to write with, and any other materials I have asked you to bring.
2. Actively participate in class. This helps me gauge your understanding of the topic at hand. Also, you might be able to explain a concept in a different way than me which will help it click for other students. Don't be a warm body sitting in a chair. Pay attention, ask questions, give answers.
3. Be respectful when others are talking. If you have a comment, just wait until whoever is speaking is done and raise your hand. No one likes being interrupted.
4. This is the most important thing so I'm going to put it in all caps: IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT SOMETHING OR DON'T UNDERSTAND SOMETHING, ASK, ASK, ASK QUESTIONS! If you have a question, everyone else is probably thinking the same thing. PLEASE ask if you don't understand, either in class or after class.
5. Don't have your cell phones or other electronic devices (ipods, ipads, tablets, etc.) out during class. It's in the Eagle Valley handbook. Some devices are allowed FOR EDUCATION PURPOSES ONLY. If you take notes on a laptop or an ipad, that is allowed but don't abuse that privilege. I should never walk by you during class and see you playing Candy Crush.
6. Put your name (First AND last) on every thing you turn in. I don't care if you're the only Ethel or Ernest in the class. Putting your first and last name on things is a good habit to get into at a young age.
7. Please be in your seat when the bell rings. It's really pretty simple. If you aren't, you will be marked tardy.
Speaking of being in your seat...
8. Stay in your seat and don't pack up until I've ended our discussion. Sometimes we'll go to the bell but most of the time, you'll have time in class to work on things and time to pack up before the bell. If you start packing up while I'm still teaching, it shows me that you don't care what I have to say and aren't listening. Not cool man.

9. Be respectful of your classmates and your teacher. People see things differently and will have different opinions. Bullying will absolutely not be tolerated in any form. Follow the golden rule people: Treat others as you'd like to be treated. It's a simple concept and will make the room run smoothly.
10. Follow these expectations, turn in fully completed assignment on time, pay attention in class, ask questions, seek out help if you need it, and you'll be fine. Let's have some fun.
Homework expectations
Homework is expected to be turned in at the beginning of class on the day it is due. All materials to be graded should be placed on the appropriate shelf in the file organizer. Late work will receive a deduction of one letter grade per day that it is late. After 5 days, late work will no longer be accepted.
attendance expectations
Attendance is very important. It will be difficult to learn if you are missing class. If you are absent, excused or not, it is THE STUDENT’S responsibility to obtain the missed materials from the teacher. If you miss a lab, you must meet with me to set a make-up date for the lab. If you miss the day of class before an exam (often a review day), it is still expected that you will take the test as scheduled. If you miss multiple days prior to the exam, we will arrange for you to take the exam at a later date.
